Allison Tartalia

Songwriting, Musical Theater, Early Childhood Music, Piano, Music Theory and Composition

Say Hi
  • I've taught music to students of every age from 6 months to 70!
  • As a car-less New Yorker for many years, I finally learned to drive in my twenties so that I could tour as a songwriter.
  • I live in NJ with my husband and daughter and two insane cats named Ariel and Professor Vincent.

Allison is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. As a performing songwriter, she releases music under the moniker Allison's Invention. Her songs have been heard on Lifetime's "Dance Moms," NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly," and the feature film "Midtown" starting Milo Ventimiglia.

In addition to her solo work, Allison Tartalia is an Emmy-nominated composer for film and theatre. Projects include the feature-length romantic comedy, Get Happy, the documentary 5,000 Miles from Home and numerous short films. Allison has also composed and arranged two original full-length musicals, 1918: A House Divided and Birds on Fire (book and lyrics by Barbara Kahn), both produced by New York City’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Theater for the New City.

As a teaching artist, Allison has taught piano, guitar, rock band, voice and songwriting at a variety of organizations in Philadelphia and New York City, including Philadelphia Lullaby Project, World Cafe Live, Educational Alliance, PS 166-The Richard Rogers School of Arts and Technology, Neighborhood Music and Arts, Willie Mae Rock and Roll Camp for Girls and Beyond Rock. For seven years, she served as Director of Music for Queens, teaching the early music program Music for Aardvarks to babies and toddlers in the borough of Queens. She studied theatre at Pomona College and The New School as well as at the London Dramatic Academy, and holds an MFA in music composition with an emphasis on scoring for media and songwriting from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
