- I love the toy piano and melodica !
- I can sing lower than one of my male adult students!
- One of my life goals is to learn how to speak Indonesian for the next time I perform in Bali!
I’ve been teaching music and working with kids for about 10 years. My students have ranged from 3yrs old-adults. I teach beginner-intermediate for my instruments: ukulele, guitar and piano. Singing is my main instrument so any level works for me! My approach to teaching music is always to get to know the student’s interests and/or my impressions on who they are. Then I either choose a classical method (which I was trained in at Queens College) or a more relaxed pop/rock/singer-songwriter method (which is what I love doing on my own)! I’m also very interested in world music. I play in a Balinese ensemble called Gamelan Yowana Sari. We play all over New York as well as some percussion festivals including PASIC and Asheville Percussion Festival. We’ve been to Bali a couple of times to learn and perform. Lastly I sing in two bands I formed : Le Petit Pépinot (small instrument eclectic band) and Alida y los corazones (trio that mainly covers Latin American folk tunes). I sing and write songs in Spanish, English and French.
