Ben Boecker is a teaching artist, voice teacher, and singer-songwriter who has lived and worked in NYC for 10 years now. His biggest passions are musical theater and pop music- He is a member of the BMI WORKSHOP where he composes music and lyrics to new musicals, and has won several awards for his writing as well. He teaches voice and piano lessons at The Calhoun School on the UWS, at Leman Prep in downtown Manhattan, and out of his home studio on 72nd street. As a local cabaret performer, Ben has performed at The Duplex, Birdland Jazz Club, 54 Below, and more. Most recently his original musical "MY TRUE LOVE" was premiered at Usdan Arts Camp on Long Island.

Ben is extremely passionate about creating theater and music for social change, and has designed a pop choir course where students will study the history and background of the artists that we listen to and sing-- while using visual elements as well such as music videos and photographs of the artist's family, life, and history. The goal is to understand how these artists fit into their particular cultural time and social history and they impact they made on their world and the world today, while still keeping the process fun and learning to sing at the same time! www.benboecker.com
