Early Childhood Music
- My oldest flute student is 75 years old and loves jazz music and improvisation.
- I have a knack for finding four-leaf clover - I like to gift them as lucky gifts to friends, family, and students.
- I have two rescue cats named Billie and Bean!
I am a professional musician and educator with a passion for working with young students using flute, ukulele, recorder, percussion, and music technology. I teach with a student-focused and empowerment-based approach, where I customize lesson plans and activities to best suit what brings children in my class the most energy in music-making. I am an empathetic and patient teacher who pays close attention to the classroom community. My background in Ethnomusicology has informed me of conscientious, anti-racist teaching practices, and I continue to educate myself on best practices of engaging with education through a variety of platforms and teaching settings. I hold a Master's in Music from the New England Conservatory in Flute Performance, with a concentration in Music in Education. My dual Bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Economics is from Barnard College (honors and Phi Beta Kappa).
