- Aside from Tae Kwon Do, I'm passionate about health and fitness, cars, and biology!
- I'm a first generation American to Indian parents and am fluent in Hindi!
- Outside of Togetherhood, I created a nonprofit that will distribute food that would otherwise be wasted to those in need, and am currently in the final stages of setting it into motion!
Hey! My name is Aayush Chahal and I'm from Brooklyn, New York. I currently go to Stuyvesant High School and am a First Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. In the United Tae Kwon Do Tournament, I placed 1st in form and 2nd in sparring. I taught Tae Kwon Do at my Dojang to kids aged 3 to 16 before joining with Togetherhood.
Growing up, I used to be insecure about my abilities, and I sometimes felt like I couldn't trust myself to have the discipline I needed to achieve the goals I wanted. I realized that I needed to make a change, and I started Tae Kwon Do. Going through the rigorous training process and constantly perfecting my technique and conditioning showed me that with self-discipline, it's possible to completely change how you feel about yourself and improve all aspects of your life. In joining the Togetherhood family, I hope to inspire kids to make a positive change and become confident in their ability to help themselves, which will not only help them in Tae Kwon Do, but in all areas of life.
Aside from Tae Kwon Do, I am very passionate about STEM. Some of my experience includes a medical internship where I worked as an assistant in a medical office and a research internship at Brooklyn College where I published a research poster showing the efficacy of the LAMP assay in detecting M. globosa in pancreatic cancer. I've taken several college level courses including AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Psychology, AP Calculus, and AP World History. I'm excited to pass on the knowledge I've had the privilege of learning to kids in a fun, hands-on way!
