- I went to a Waldorf School in California
- I spent a month in Italy studying fresco.
- Being in nature is important to me, so I go to parks, the beach, and the country when I can.
I am an artist and educator based in Brooklyn, NY. I have a MFA in Painting and a dedicated studio practice. I began painting alongside my Dad as a child and haven't stopped since. Originally from California, I love the outdoors, mountains and ocean. Now after 15 years in the city, I consider myself a New Yorker. I love everything the city has to offer artists, from the museums teaching us about history to vibrant street culture.
As an artist and educator, I believe in fostering a dynamic learning environment that empowers students to explore their creativity, develop technical skills, and cultivate a deep understanding of artistic expression. I believe it essential to teach by example, and I express my passion for the arts with the belief that enthusiasm is contagious.
Every student possesses innate creativity. My role as an instructor is to create a supportive atmosphere where students are encouraged to take risks, experiment with new techniques, and push the boundaries of their artistic abilities. I aim to inspire students to find their unique voice and develop a visual language. Therefore, I strive to create a curriculum that allows students to explore a wide range of mediums, techniques, and artistic traditions. Through hands-on projects, guided exercises, and exposure to diverse artistic influences, students can broaden their perspectives and deepen their understanding of the possibilities within the visual arts.
A supportive and inclusive classroom environment is essential for creative growth. I am committed to creating a classroom culture that values diversity, respects different perspectives, and celebrates the unique contributions of each student. By fostering mutual respect, collaboration, and empathy, I aim to create a productive space where students feel empowered to express themselves authentically and take creative risks.
